Engage Students Through Capstone Courses

College of Computing and Information Technology

The Capstone, spanning two academic terms of four months each (as Capstone I and II courses), provides students at the College of Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) with the opportunity to apply their accumulated knowledge and skills towards the completion of a comprehensive project. During Capstone I, students work in groups under the guidance of a supervisor, adhering to professional and ethical standards, to define and refine their project's design and conduct a preliminary implementation. This phase culminates in the development of a final Capstone project proposal, which students must defend before a panel of judges. Capstone I lays the groundwork for Capstone II, where students focus on the full implementation and delivery of their approved project proposal.

The initial idea of a Capstone project can come from students, faculty members, or external partners. A Capstone project proposal can involve one or more of the following areas:

  • Information Technology (such as cloud computing, IoT systems, and network automation, among other infrastructure-related technologies)
  • Software Engineering
  • Information Systems
  • Data and Cybersecurity
  • Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Digital Communication and Media Production
