University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) proudly announces the outstanding performance of its teams at the 10th GCC Universities Sports Tournament held at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. The tournament brought together 17 prestigious universities from across the GCC to compete in seven sports disciplines: athletics, swimming, football, 3x3 basketball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis.
UDST’s athletes displayed exceptional talent and determination, achieving remarkable results across multiple events. In badminton, Muhamed Gayuh, Nihal Mohamed, and Juan Miguel secured a gold medal. In swimming, Youssef Gemie won the gold medal in the 50m freestyle, while the team of Jehan Andres, Youssef Gemie, Abdullah Alkhaldi, and Raed Ismail earned a silver medal in the relay. Abdullah Alkhaldi also won silver medals in the 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, along with a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle by Youssef Gemie. In athletics, Eltayeb Mohamed claimed the gold medal in the long jump. Meanwhile, the volleyball team achieved an impressive 4th position, showcasing their resilience and skill throughout the competition.
As a result of their stellar performances, UDST earned third place overall in the tournament, marking a significant achievement as the university entered the list of the top three Gulf universities for the first time. The total medal haul of 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze not only highlighted the excellence of UDST’s athletes but also showcased their dedication, talent, and exemplary representation of the university on an international stage.
