The Peer Tutoring Program provides a valuable opportunity for students encountering difficulties in particular courses to receive assistance without charge. This initiative orchestrates tutoring sessions facilitated by accomplished students who have achieved a minimum grade of 80% in the relevant course. It's important to acknowledge that the selection of courses available for tutoring may fluctuate each semester to accommodate the changing requirements of students. The Peer Tutoring Program extends its support to courses spanning all colleges. It offers three categories of tutoring sessions: Individual Tutoring, Group Tutoring, and Drop-in Tutoring.

Workshops are more than just interactive meetings. They're a space for groups to come together around a shared goal, collaborate effectively and solve complex problems. A workshop involves hands-on learning, which means that participants are actively involved in the learning process.

“As a first-year digital marketing student, I feel like the Accounting Help Center has significantly benefited my transition into higher education. I have also found the Advanced Writing Help Center helpful with completing my assignments and ensuring I have the right APA 7 formatting. In addition to this, there will always be someone at the Accounting Help Center to assist you with your questions, and if you don’t understand one student assistant you can always ask for help from another.

The accounting help center welcomes all students who simply want to study, get revision help or even prepare for presentations. I would highly recommend coming and getting the help you need before spending too long struggling with a simple question or answer. By coming here, you will be able to be more efficient with your time when it comes to revising.”

"As an individual that values new experiences and learning every day, the Advanced Writing Center is the perfect place for me. My passion to help my fellow peers excel in their university assignments is what drew me to work at this center, which offers guidance on formatting reports using different styles such as APA 7 and IEEE, citing, referencing, and both verbal and written communication skills."

Students from all majors are encouraged to use the services offered and see their grades improve and their writing skills. On top of this, many students may feel more comfortable seeking assistance from students they connect with, which in turn can increase productivity in the long run. Moreover, using the help center can assist those who have creative ideas but are unable to pen them on paper to gather and categorize their thoughts in a constructive manner."

“The IT Help Center is a welcoming space for students to use and seek assistance. I often feel that many students refrain from asking their instructors too many questions and for that reason the student assistants, such as myself, can assist. Ultimately, there will always be a student assistant in the help center who can relate to the struggles that their peers are going through as they have either been there before or they are going through it at the same time. Thus, a student may have taken the same course a few years back, which means he may have personal experiences and guidance on how to approach the course or concept.

Not only does the IT Help Center help you succeed academically but it provides you with essential soft skills that can be used after university, such as communication and self-learning skills. Upon entering this center, you have access to all the necessary computers, applications and recap sessions as per schedule. These recap sessions are scheduled to help students consolidate their knowledge from their previous classes.

Overall, we see students from all levels come into the help center. Whether you are a first year or a fourth year wanting some extra support, the IT help center is your place to go. It is not only a place to go when you are severely struggling, but rather it is a place you can go to for some guidance if needed.”

“One of the staples of my university experience has been the Advanced Writing Center. It is the perfect place to receive important information and assistance applicable to all university programs. In addition to this, the Advanced Writing Center will help students to generate and process their ideas and thoughts into comprehensible and logical formats. Student assistants will help you format your papers the way the instructors prefer to ensure you get the best grades possible.

As a student assistant, I can get the satisfaction of assisting others and improve my interpersonal skills such as customer service and patience. In addition to this, I can get exposed to many different writing styles which I would not have had prior to my job.

I believe that the advanced writing center has a high success rate as many students have provided positive feedback to state that their grades have improved. Therefore, I would recommend students to come and ask for the writing help they need.”

“To begin with, I believe all students that use the Math and Science are making a significant difference in your academic journey, especially if you are struggling with a specific topic. By coming to this help center you are making a conscious step to seek assistance, meet others and improve your university experience.

My job as a student assistant is to help students understand their course material, seeing as sometimes learning from your peers can be equally beneficial. In this light working at the help center is one of the most rewarding jobs on campus because you are passing down the knowledge that you have and assisting others.

From my personal experience, I would highly recommend students to use the services we offer as there will always be a schedule posted both on D2L and outside the center with staff readily available to assist with queries, concerns and exam preparation.

So, hurry and visit the Math and Science help center to save yourself a seat!”

“As a student assistant at the IT Help Center, I value the ability to have engaging conversations with students that come to seek help from us assistants. Since I started working there, I have managed to gain many skills, most importantly the ability to manage my patience and communicate effectively. By learning how to tailor your teaching style to each unique student, both you and the student can learn new things.

I recommend that students visit the IT Help Center as they will always find enthusiastic student assistants eager to help with improving study skills, grades, communication and exam preparation. In addition to this, the student assistants at the help center will help you build confidence in yourself and will adapt their teaching style to yours. Therefore, do not miss out on an opportunity to ask for help and boost your IT skills.

This help center provides support to students and hosts weekly recap sessions intended to help them when their assessments are close. I encourage students to join these recap sessions to consolidate the knowledge that they receive in the classrooms.

On top of this, I highly encourage more students to apply for student assistant jobs at the help centers as it will help with their interchangeable skills that will benefit you after your time at UDST.”

“The IT Help Center is a newly discovered gem that is the perfect place for students who require any form of assistance. Unfortunately, many students do not know about it, but I would say that it’s a good place for people to go even if they just have one simple question to ask. At the end of the day there will always be a student assistant there to guide you to the right answers.

This help center is especially beneficial as often it is more helpful for a student to seek assistance from another student as they can relate more closely to each other's experiences and learning techniques. Therefore, by learning from peers, the help center gives students multiple perspectives to help them tackle a course or get their question answered. In that light, the IT Help Center can be described as a very lively place that encourages students to be more sociable and communicative with their fellow peers, which is a life skill that will be used even after their time at university. Overall students should use this service as a platform to exchange information, study tips and experiences.”
