UDST Students Organize Palestine Fundraisers Amid Global Crisis
In response to the ongoing crisis in Palestine, a group of dedicated UDST students demonstrated remarkable initiative, drive, and global awareness by organizing multiple Palestine fundraisers on campus, raising a remarkable 48,638 Qatari Riyals.
Abdulrahman Zaroub and Ahmed Al-Moghrabi acted swiftly upon the idea of organizing a fundraiser for Palestine. Abdulrahman explained, "In March, we participated in Festival of Cultures, and I was a member of the Palestine group. I sent a message to our group, informing them about the fundraiser and asking for support. The response was overwhelming; within a day, 30 people had joined the cause."
The event was not only about fundraising but also aimed to educate the community about Palestine, its culture, and the ongoing situation. They included educational materials and information to raise awareness. Abdulrahman emphasized that the goal was "to teach them more about Palestine, the culture, and what's happening."
Another student, Ahmed, acknowledged the support they received from the Palestinian and UDST community. He also expressed his appreciation towards the various volunteers who brought homemade food, snacks and coffee, demonstrating their support for Palestine. The event proved to be a huge success, helping to educate the community about the Palestinian cause.
The event's success led to the forming of an official Palestinian Club at the university, which has plans to host more events in the near future.
In the face of adversity, these students' determination to contribute to relief efforts and educate others about Palestine demonstrates their commitment to global awareness and responsibility. Their swift and impactful response serves as an inspiration to us all.
