About the Competition
A collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The competition focuses on raising awareness about climate change and the crucial adherence to the Montreal Protocol for ozone layer preservation.
High school students are invited to form teams of 1 to 3 members and create projects centered around environmental awareness and protection. By participating, students deepen their understanding of climate change impacts while fostering teamwork, competitiveness, and a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation.
Requirements
Submit an electronic poster or a video that addresses the following topics:
1. Ozone Layer:
- The ozone layer and its importance to the environment, along with the potential effects of ozone depletion.
- Substances affecting the ozone layer such as Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and the necessary measures to mitigate the impact of these gases.
- The role of the Montreal Protocol in preserving the ozone layer.
2. Climate Change:
- Climate change and the impact of alternative greenhouse gases like Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) on global warming and climate change.
- Awareness about sustainable lifestyles and the environmental impact of excessive energy consumption, as well as the role of individuals and companies in reducing their impact on climate change.
- Environmental technologies and their role in minimizing environmental impact, promoting renewable energy, and improving energy efficiency.
Terms and Conditions
- The participating team must consist of 1 to 3 individuals.
- Participants must be enrolled as students in either a public or private school in the State of Qatar.
- The electronic poster must adhere to the standard size of W91.44 cm × H121.92 cm and be in one of the allowed formats: pdf, jpeg, png, or jpg.
- The video duration should range between 1 to 3 minutes and be in one of the allowed formats: avi, mp3, mp4, webm, or mov
- The video / poster content should be informative and contribute to supporting the environmental awareness campaign.
- Projects must be compliant with the specified topics
- The video/poster must include logos of MECC, UDST, and UNEP, which can be found at the bottom of the page, and these logos must be placed according to the provided template
- Projects must be in Arabic or English.
- Projects must be uploaded to the page before the deadline
- The organizing committee of the competition has the right to use the photos, designs, and videos submitted in the competition in any marketing or promotional materials without referring back to the participant.
- Participation in the competition is considered acceptance of the terms and conditions mentioned above.
