Since its founding in 1949, the International University Sports Federation is the key driver to expand the role and reach of university sport around the world. Covering more than 60 sports and bringing together 164 countries, FISU believes that sports values and sports practice work in perfect synchronicity within one’s university studies.
FISU offers opportunity and inspiration to students around the world to play sport. The health, wellbeing, and experiences that students gain from sport help them become active members in our global society.
In keeping with this adage, FISU organises world-class sports and educational events, all with the mission of providing university students with the opportunities to connect and exchange with students from around the world, in a collaborative and competitive environment. To achieve this, FISU has identified goals and a path to achieve them with the FISU Global Strategy 2027. This ten-year tactical game plan can be found at the bottom of the page.
The FISU Healthy Campus programme was also developed with the goal of creating an international benchmark for physical health and mental wellbeing on university campuses around the world. This programme is designed to benefit students and staff, while helping implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. More information about this programme can be found HERE.
QCSF Brief
Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) was founded in 2021 with many goals, the most important of which is developing the university sports community, supporting higher education institutions in paying attention to the importance of sport on campus, raising a generation of young individuals possessing various sports skills which has a great impact on the physical, mental, psychological and health development of university students which in turn could have a positive impact on the health of the community in general. Also, one of QCSF’s main roles is to prepare elite collegiate teams to compete at the highest levels locally, regionally, continentally, and internationally, and forming young cadres to support national teams, while highlighting the role of the universities and colleges in leaving a contributing mark on the development and training of national team athletes.
Reaching their goals, QCSF cooperates with two important parties in activating and managing its programs and activities. These are the higher education institutions and the National Sports Federations, while considering that QCSF was established to serve as an extension of the School Sports Federation which share similar goals, which includes taking care of students in the State of Qatar at various educational levels, both athletically and health-wise in harmony with the Qatar National Vision 2030 which supports sport as being one of the pillars for building accomplished and healthy citizens. QCSF, which adopts the motto “Sport Inspires Education”, will spare no effort in providing the opportunities to the students of the higher education institutions to demonstrate their sports and physical talents and capabilities, while adopting sport as part of their healthy lifestyle.
The International University Sports Federation (FISU) admitted Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) as a member in 2023.
