“The IT Help Center is a newly discovered gem that is the perfect place for students who require any form of assistance. Unfortunately, many students do not know about it, but I would say that it’s a good place for people to go even if they just have one simple question to ask. At the end of the day there will always be a student assistant there to guide you to the right answers.

This help center is especially beneficial as often it is more helpful for a student to seek assistance from another student as they can relate more closely to each other's experiences and learning techniques. Therefore, by learning from peers, the help center gives students multiple perspectives to help them tackle a course or get their question answered. In that light, the IT Help Center can be described as a very lively place that encourages students to be more sociable and communicative with their fellow peers, which is a life skill that will be used even after their time at university. Overall students should use this service as a platform to exchange information, study tips and experiences.”

“In my opinion the Math and Science Help Center is the most utilized help center in the University, constantly attracting many students. At this help center, the student assistants are mutually supportive and committed to the improvement of each other's academic success.

The Math and Science Help Center has been an integral part of my journey here in UDST. Initially as a student who was seeking help and later transitioning into a student assistant, I have acquired interchangeable skills. One of the most important life skills that I learnt from this help center is communication skills. This skill is essential for student assistants at help centers to ensure they can tailor their teaching methods according to a student's learning style.

I highly recommend students to use their Colleges’ Academic Help Centers especially those students who are struggling in their courses. If you are a student and you are coming in for help, you are making a positive difference in your academic journey. I struggled with a Math course when I first arrived at UDST, but the Math and Science Help Center assisted in providing me with the techniques I needed to pass the course.

As a student assistant at the Math and Science Help Center, the experience is fulfilling as I can help students who are facing difficulties in their mathematical academic journey, which fosters an environment of teamwork and understanding at UDST. Ultimately, being present at the help center is rewarding because I can pass down the knowledge that I have to assist my peers.”

“The Accounting Help Center has assisted me in my studies immensely by providing me with a space that is fully equipped with the course specific programs any accounting student needs to succeed academically. The program that I have found most useful to excelling in my daily work is Refinitiv, which is an essential tool used by accounting and banking majors.

At UDST (University of Doha for Science and Technology), I have used additional Academic Learning Services, such as the Advanced Writing Center in the Learning Commons and peer tutoring services.

The Accounting Help Center usually gets extremely busy as students use the location for a multitude of reasons. The center is staffed by faculty members who can assist students with any of their course concerns and queries, whilst also motivating students to study independently.

Ultimately, I would recommend this center to students who struggle to study alone, need additional guidance from faculty members or are preparing for projects like me.”

“The Foundation Program was super helpful; it gave me a strong knowledge base and set me up for success in my program. I learned so much and it made me feel more confident in my studies. It was definitely a valuable experience.”

“I was in two levels of the Foundation Program and it was a good experience. The instructors were amazing and they helped me prepare for my program. Now, I am studying IT. The Foundation Program helped me to become more fluent and have more confidence. I learned how to do proper presentations and improve my speaking skills. I am now able to speak more easily as well as identify the main ideas while listening to lectures. I learned these skills in the Foundation Program.”

“During my journey though the Foundation Program, I learned a lot of new things, and I improved my English a lot. The program helped me develop my vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and writing. Now, I am reaping the benefits after entering my major. I learned so much vocabulary in the foundation courses and I encounter these words often in my studies. I feel very prepared. Now, if I see a student who does not see the benefits of being in the Foundation Program, I tell them how lucky they are to have this opportunity to learn all the skills they need before they enter their major. I think it is an important stage for anyone who needs to develop their English language.”

What helped me the most in my major is that the instructors were always welcoming when I was having difficulties with understanding certain assignments and lessons. The classes did not only focus on the theoretical parts; we were quick to jump on the practical parts of our studies which made the journey much more exciting and introduced a new experience on what it is like to work on real hardware components. Studying at UDST changed my career plans and my vision. I gained a lot of knowledge and skills throughout different courses and with the right balance of theory and practice knowledge, I got a better understanding and was able to implement my knowledge at work easily. My experience was memorable and amazing, because of the faculties and instructors. The University environment was great and the students were friendly and helpful. the hands-on experience helped me apply what I studied to my work.  I would recommend applying and would recommend utilizing all the facilities that is available to you. If I can attend all over again I would do it in a heartbeat.
